Laney Jo Moran, 17, of Altamont, IL, was called home to Heaven by God on Sunday, April 20, 2025 at St. Louis Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham, IL. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the family for funeral expenses. Online condolences may be shared at www.johnsonandsonsfh.com.
Laney Jo was born on May 3, 2007, in Effingham, IL, the daughter of Ben and Sara (Brackney) Moran. Laney Jo was a beautiful girl with a smile that could make any day better. She had a contagious laughter that was loved and will be missed by all that knew her. Laney Jo absolutely loved VeggieTales, riding on her golf cart, and her family. She was known for giving you the side eye and a little smirk when she was being ornery. Laney Jo was a gift from God that we were blessed to call ours. We will always give Him thanks for this beautiful girl and the time we have had with her.
Laney Jo is survived by her parents, Ben and Sara Moran; siblings, Khole Moran (Tristen), Shelby Scrimpsher (Cody), and Whitlee Moran; nieces, Kenzley and Keegan Scrimpsher; coming in September nephew, Oliver Moran; grandparents, Teri and Michael Waterman; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Donna Moran and Wayne Moran, Sr.
