The Effingham Athletic Department runs an Athlete of the Month program every month. Athletes are nominated by head coaches based upon the following criteria:
Stats, Accomplishments, Character, Coachability, Leadership and Sportsmanship
Nominations are then sent out to all high coaches to vote on a winner. There is one male and one female winner each month. Winners receive a Treign Athlete of the Month shirt and get recognition via announcements and local media.
November 2024 Winners:
Alyssa Martin, Jr. – Basketball
“Alyssa has led us to a 5-0 start and the championship of the Newton Holiday Tournament, where she was named to the all-tournament team. She is averaging 12.5 points a game and 5 rebounds. Alyssa is a dream to coach. Her intensity that she plays with is unmatched. She is also very coachable and always trying to improve her game. She is also awesome in the classroom.” — Coach Jeff Schafer
Kaiden Stewart, Sr. – Wrestling
“Kaiden is team captain this year and is 3-1 so far . He is closing in on his 100th career win in The next few weeks” — Coach Bryan McMillan
