Washington Savings Bank proudly announces the retirement of Tracy Covington, Senior Vice President of Operations, after a career marked by exceptional leadership, commitment, and service.
Tracy’s career in banking began in 1985 at Central National Bank of Mattoon, where she joined as secretary to the Vice President and Cashier—a role she earned thanks to her shorthand skills and eye for detail. Her journey with Washington Savings Bank began on January 1, 2000, when she joined The First National Bank in Mattoon as an Internal Auditor. She went on to serve as Senior Vice President – CFO before transitioning to her current role when Washington Savings Bank acquired The First National Bank, Mattoon in 2021.
In her most recent position as Senior Vice President of Operations, Tracy played a vital role in improving internal processes, increasing operational efficiency, and providing critical support across departments. She also served as the bank’s Information Security Officer, Security Officer, and Secretary to the Board of Directors.
“Having joined us from another successful bank, Tracy brought valuable new insights to our organization and was a great fit with our culture from the start,” said David Doedtman, President and CEO of Washington Savings Bank. “Her knowledge, dedication, and engaging personality will be missed by all who work with her.”
Tracy has often shared that her favorite part of the job was digging into issues and figuring out how to fix them—a trait that made her an invaluable resource for her colleagues and a trusted leader within the organization. Her sense of humor, professionalism, and dedication will be deeply missed.
Outside of work, Tracy is known for her commitment to the Mattoon community as a Chamber Ambassador, as well as her love of gardening, sewing, reading, and spending time with her five grandchildren—especially crafting handmade Halloween costumes.
Washington Savings Bank extends heartfelt congratulations to Tracy on her retirement and sincere thanks for 40 remarkable years of service to the banking industry. We wish her all the best in this next chapter.
