 Effingham Girls Win Championship of Paris Tiger Track Relays

Effingham High School won the championship of the Paris Tigers Girls Track Relays.

PARIS — Effingham High School claimed the championship of the Paris Tiger Girls Track Relays Thursday.

The Hearts put together 159 points followed by Paris 143, Charleston 118, Marshall 49, Neoga 48, Hume Shiloh 39, Arcola 37 and Georgetown-Ridge Farm 33.

Four Effingham tracksters picked up individual first place finishes. Baylee Summers was a winner in the 800 with a time of 2:35.01. Jessica Larsen claimed the 1600 in 5:37.82 minutes while teammate Morgan Springer took second in 6:01.34.

In field events, Camdyn Burgholzer won the high jump at 5 feet, 2 inches. Kylie Pryor was a winner in the pole vault at 7 feet. Emery Spicer claimed the triple jump at 31 feet, 10 inches.

The 4×200 relay team of Trinity Reed, Laney Myers, Viktorija Balode and Haddie Hill were winners in 1:59.44 minutes.

Second place finishes went to Balode in the 200 in 28.87. Macy Kirk was second in the 400 in 1:08.212. Alaina Miller was second in the 3200 in 13:59.96. Burgholzer was second in the 300 hurdles in 52.99. Keagyn  Koenig took second in the shot with a heave of 36 feet, 2 inches.

Neoga’s Atalie Osborn finished third in the 800 in 2:58.33. The 4×200 relay team finished third in 2:04.33.

In the boys meet, Paris was the team champion with 180 points followed by Neoga 123, Georgetown-Ridge Farm 117, Arcola 75, Marshall 45 and Hume Shiloh 31.

Neoga was a champion in two events. The Indians won the 4×200 relay with a time of 1:43.43 minutes. Team members were Ian Caudill, Asher Cardinal, Fisher Porter and Kaden Bryant.

The 4×400 relay team also won in 3:49.63 minutes. Team members were Lucas Keller, Bryant, Jayton Hanfland and Brett Matusus.

Lucas Keller was second in the 800 in 2:14.34 while Hanfland took second in the 400 in 56.25 seconds. Gavin Ray was second in the 3200 in 11:09.49 minutes. The 4×100 relay team was second in 49.04.
