Janet Pearl (Reddick) McMechan (84) of Greenup

Janet Pearl (Reddick) McMechan, 84, of Greenup, Illinois went to her heavenly home at 7:47 p.m. on Wednesday April 16, 2025, at the Casey Healthcare Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday April 21, 2025, at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to service time also at the funeral chapel in Greenup. Burial will be at the Harmony Cemetery in Greenup.

Janet was born on January 13, 1941, to Arthur and Verna Pearl (Jackson) Reddick. She married Ronnie McMechan on April 5, 1959. He preceded her in death on July 26, 2015. She is survived by their three children; Sharon Hutton, Steve (Trena) McMechan, and Shelly (Jim) Stephens; grandchildren Candis (Adam) Carlen, Bill (Jennifer) Hutton, Stacey (Chris) Savage, Kacey (Brian) Shobe, Damian Light, Brock McMechan, Jesse (Kaitlin) Stephens, and Mallory Light; great-grandchildren Gabbi, Bella, and Rylan Carlen, Layla and Walker Hutton, Mackenzie, Mason, and Mia Shobe, Lily Light, Alexis and Alaura Stephens. She is also survived by her brother Russell (Linda) Reddick and brothers and sisters-in-law; Sandy Eades, Marion Eades, Karon Pfeifer, George Pfeifer, Steve and Sharon Shull, Terry Holsapple, and Susie Beaumont. She loved them all and did her best to keep in touch with each one.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers; Neal, Don (Lucy), Max, Arthur, and Billy; four sisters Lila (Glenn) Johnson, Phyllis (Bob) Campbell, Rubye (Gene) Denney, and Dorothy (Russell) Glidewell; sister-in-law Sheila Holsapple; brothers-in-law Kenny Carr and Ken Beaumont; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Janet was a member of the Plum Grove Church. She worked in a restaurant, at Ettlebrick Shoe Factory, and did at-home care for a while, but her heart was in her home and family. She was an awesome cook and loved having the grand and great-grand kids around her.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Plum Grove Church.
