A Lakewood man is in custody on a Class X felony count of threatening to shoot people at a Shelby County school.
23-year-old Joseph Jenkins was apprehended after the FBI contacted the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Saturday. Federal authorities said they received a tip about a TikTok threat of shooting students and teachers at a school. The threat originated from the Lakewood area, which is north and west of Cowden.
Jenkins has prior arrests after threatening on social media to shoot Shelby County deputies. He was arrested at his home on Sunday and reportedly admitted to make the TikTok threat.
During a court appearance on Monday, Judge Amanda Ade-Harlow found that Jenkins posed a danger to the community and ordered him held in custody at Shelby County Jail. He is next due in court on April 21.
