Kenneth Edward Carr, (Kenny) age 67 passed away on April 5, 2025 at the Cumberland Nursing Center peacefully after a 6+ year battle with Multiple Systems Atrophy.
Kenny was the youngest child of Benjamin “Hank” and Lila Carr. He was born in Hialeah, FL and later grew up in Kendall, FL (well, as his siblings said, he never actually grew up). This led to his love of the Miami Dolphins. His family moved back to Greenup in 1970 where they opened Carr’s Auto Sales (and later Service). He graduated high school at Cumberland HS & attended Eastern Illinois University. Kenny was always the life of the party. He possessed a contagious smile and a very charismatic personality.
During his adult life he enjoyed living in many cities across the country: New Baden, Asheville, Lakeland, Atlanta (Go Braves!) and Gulfport-just to name a few. His wildly precise memory could always recall and share the best bars and restaurants to try if you were in any of these areas. His hobbies included harness horse racing, golf, fishing, and playing cards. He worked at YellowBook and won the Champion Award & Chairmans Club many years for his exceptional sales abilities. Later in life he worked at Owens Motorsports and even carried the mail for USPS.
He very much prided himself on being a fun-loving father to Mandy Carr (Amanda Borre). His prized possessions when his health began to go south were: candy (any kind), Cheetos, Mountain Dew (Thanks Bob for keeping up his stock), and two boxes of pictures of his Mom, Dad, and siblings, his horses, and times he and Mandy traveled to Six Flags and Florida. He was a member of the Charleston Elks and VFW. He cherished the friendships built there.
Our family is appreciative of all of the love and care he was shown throughout his lifetime and especially these last few difficult years. The staff at Cumberland Nursing Home (and a few others he lived in) kept him smiling and making snarky comments “being a trouble-maker” all the way to the end. Thank you to everyone who visited and brightened his days.
Survivors include: his only child, Dr. Amanda Borre (Jeff) of Aurora, IL., two beloved grandchildren TJ and Faith; brother; Bob Carr of Charleston, IL, sister; Beth (Mike) Weger of Auburndale, FL; four nephews and two nieces, and numerous cousins.
Preceding him in death: his parents; brother, Larry Carr; and special nephew, Ryan Weger.
Based on Kenny’s wishes, there will be no services, but sharing any fond memories is welcome as we all grieve his loss.
