Neoga Superintendent Kevin Haarman said plans are moving ahead for the district’s buildings in the wake of last month’s tornado.
Haarman said the district is looking at obtaining a six-classroom modular building to help house elementary and junior high school students. As far as athletics and PE, the district can still utilize the elementary gym.
Haarman said, “It doesn’t seem reasonable that we will have everything done” in time for the new school year this fall.
As far as scheduling home varsity games this coming season, Haarman said that Lake Land College has reached out to make their field house available, and that the fieldhouse could even be utilized for Neoga’s tournament.
Haarman said he is meeting with the architects on how best to proceed. He said he is operating under a “first, the board; then, the staff; then, the community” method.
At the March meeting, the Neoga board approved the calendar for the coming school year with August 14th the first day for students.
In personnel items, the Neoga board accepted Mark Jones’ resignation as assistant junior high boys basketball coach, hired Kylee Phillips as an elementary PE instructor, and hired Sammi James as high school interventionist. The Board also acted on a recommendation to dismiss Donald Polk as a custodian.
