Effingham High School’s Kaiden Stewart competed in the Class 1A State Wrestling Tournament Friday and Saturday.

Stewart competed at 120 pounds and lost the opener to Brody Mouser of LeRoy, 16-1. He then downed Kaaden Wood of Braidwood with a pin in 1:18.

He fell from further competition with a loss to Jeremiah Lawrence of Chicago De La Salle, 15-0.

“Kaiden is the first Effingham High School wrestler to win a match in the IHSA State Tournament,” said Coach Bryan McMillan.
