Carolyn L. Kleinik, 84 of Toledo, Illinois passed away at 8:25 PM Thursday, March 6, 2025 surrounded by family in her residence.
She was born April 16, 1941 in San Diego, California the daughter of Harold and Cora Scott. Carolyn married Clarence “Dean” Kleinik April 20, 1957 Corinth, Mississippi. Mrs. Kleinik was a cook for Sororities and schools including Lakeland College, Neoga and University Of Illinois. Carolyn loved cooking, quilting, flowers, butterflies and spending time with family and friends especially her grandkids and great grandkids.
She is survived by her husband, Dean Kleinik of Toledo, Illinois; children Susan Watson (Rick) of Neoga, Illinois and son Kenneth Kleinik (Angie) of St. Elmo, Illinois; son in law, Scott Ghast of Newton, Illinois; grandchildren, Michele Watson (Micah) of Neoga, Illinois, Jeremiah “J.C.” Watson (Shirley) of Ashmore, Illinois, Tyler Ghast (Jacy) of Newton, Illinois, Tawny Abrahm (Brian) of Carlyle, Illinois; eight great grandchildren; sister, Pat Evans (Randy) of Lerna, Illinois; brothers, Richard Scott of Fisher, Illinois and Leonard “Lenny” Scott of Greencastle, Indiana; numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Kleinik was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Laura Ghast; and granddaughter, Hannah Watson.
As per her wishes, cremation rites were accorded and a Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, March 23, 2025 from 1pm to 3pm in the American Legion in Neoga. Swengel-O’Dell Funeral Home in Neoga is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at www.swengel-odell.com
