The Effingham County Supervisor of Assessments Office will be mailing out Homestead Exemption Renewals the last week of February for the Property Tax Year 2025 and payable 2026.

Renewals are mailed to the address of ownership for those who have applied or renewed for the 2024 Tax Year. If you failed to renew for 2024 you may receive a reminder to do so as well.

The Mailing Date for Renewals was changed last year from the first week of January to later in February to help accommodate the weather and to assist those who need to verify income information for the Senior Freeze. Reminder, the Senior Homestead Exemptions is two part and you still qualify for Part A even if your income is over $65,000.

If you have turned 65 in 2024 or will be in 2025 and have not applied, you will need to apply in person the first time at the Supervisor of Assessments office.

Property Tax Exemptions that must be applied for and renewed are: Senior Homestead, Senior Freeze, Disabled Person, Disabled Veteran.

Fraternal and Veterans Associations as well as Open Space Eligible Applicant Renewals will also be mailed at the same time.

If you are in question if you are receiving exemptions, you can refer to your last tax bill, review on line at effinghamcountyil.gov or call the Supervisor of Assessments office at 217-342-6711.
