Aron Spicer has been named the next principal of Central Grade School. The Effingham Unit 40 school board approved the appointment at Monday night’s meeting.
Spicer is currently serving as assistant principal. He will move up to the principal’s post upon Todd Schuette’s retirement at the close of the current school year.
Spicer came to Unit 40 from the North Clay school district for the 2022-2023 school year.
In other personnel moves Monday, the Board hired Jamie Parks as a two-hour cashier at the high school, Leah Pontious as a PFA paraprofessional and season help at Little Hearts Early Childhood Center, and Brittany Appelt as mentor facilitator at the junior high.
Transfers were approved for Marissa Gunn as fulltime assistant cheer coach, Gail Warner as volunteer assistant cheer coach, Jeff Leasher as head custodian at South Side, and Lori Saunders as head custodian at the junior high school.
Jaci Brockett was approved as a volunteer compettive cheer coach at the high school.
Resignations were accepted from Michelle Hoelscher as PFA paraprofessional at Little Hearts, Kadi Carpenter as high school assistant softball coach, Morgan Wilson as junior high school head softball coach, and Gail Warner as high school co-assistant cheer coach.
The Board approved the termination of William Phillippi as a custodian.
