The Effingham County Board Monday approved roof work at the Courthouse Museum.
ProVantage was awarded the bid for $168,495. The work will not include the clock tower.
The Board also alllocated $200,000 in ARPA funds to cover the cost of the project.
Provantage was one of four vendors who submitted a bid.
Also Monday, County Treasurer Deb Ruholl reported that the tax sale will be held at 11am Thursday to complete the tax cycle. At the moment, taxes are still owed on 202 parcels. The parcels have a total value of $420,018. Payments in the form of cashier’s checks, money orders or cash will be accepted until 4pm Wednesday.
The Board appointed Terry Trueblood and Jeremy Kyle on terms of the Dive Rescue Team and Shannon Griffith to the 708 Board. Also, bids were awarded to the low bidders for rock for roadway maintenance.
The Board approved an intergovernmenal agreement with the City of Effingham for airport improvements. The City agreed to allocate $100,000 toward the project cost of the airport runway expansion. Also approved was renewal on a contract for a 12-month term with Rural Med EMS to provide ambulance service.
Board members heard from Reg Ankrom of SIMEC who suggested a pause in the electrical aggregation for a year since Ameren’s rate is less than other comparable rates.
Several items were finalized through the Tax and Finance Committee. That included allocating $10,.000 in earmarked ARPA funds to the airport for an air conditioning unit replacement, allocation of $25,000 to the Village of Dieterich for roof replacement on the Community Building, allocation of $23,394 to the sheriff’s office for a padded jail cell, the return of $887 in funds from the sheriff’s office back to ARPA, return of $39,900 from the Childcare Research Gap Scholarship back to ARPA, allocation of $17,691.74 for improvements at the Montrose Village Hall, $5,000 to Dive Rescue for equipment and building and grounds maintenance, a $17,000 increase for a total allocation of $80,000 to Mason Township for an office building and storage, a $2,189 increase for a total of $15,000 to Banner Township for a vehicle purchase, $9,863 to the airport for a second air conditioning unit, $3,675 to the emergency management agency for generator rehab, $8,060 to the highway department for a four-way stop sign update at Moccasin Road and Lake Sara Road, dissolution of the county childcare commiittee and turn over the duties to the tax and finance committee, disbursement of $15,000 to Effingham County Senior Services for their annual allocation, renewal of membership in the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce, and approval of budgeting software with a review of the program next September.
