Lowell Edmund White, age 87, of Kinmundy, Illinois passed away at 11:50 am, Monday, December 2, 2024, at the Twin Willows Nursing Care Center in Salem, Illinois.
Lowell was born on September 8, 1937 in rural Kinmundy, Illinois, the son of James T. and Iva (Butts) White. He served six years in the U.S. Army Illinois National Guard. He graduated from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 1962 with a B.A. degree in Mathematics and a minor in Physics. He worked for the Defense Mapping Agency Aerospace Center (DMAAC), Department of Defense as a Cartographer. He married Judith Ann Coker on October 17, 1970.
Lowell is survived by his daughter: Ivy Weathers; 3 grandchildren: Nicholas Weathers, Nathan (Taylor) Weathers, and Noah Weathers; 3 great-granddaughters: Paisley Weathers, Rowyn Weathers, and Averie Weathers. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
Lowell was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of nearly 50 years Judy; siblings: Dewaine W. White, Pearl E. White, Beatrice O. Bingman, Verle E. White, June A. White, Larry E. White, and his twin Lyle E. White.
Funeral services to celebrate Lowell’s life will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, December 7, 2024, at the McGriff Funeral Home in Kinmundy with his daughter Ivy Weathers officiating. Burial will follow at the Elder Cemetery, rural Kinmundy with military funerals honors to be held. A visitation will be held on Saturday morning at the funeral home from 10:30 to 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. The McGriff Funeral Home in Kinmundy is honored to be entrusted with the care and arrangements.
