 Cumberland Finishes Fourth At Vandalia Boys Tourney

Cumberland High School finished fourth at the Vandalia Boys Basketball Tournament Monday evening.

In the third place contest, Okaw Valley defeated Cumberland 51-41.

Okaw Valley held a 14-10 opening quarter lead then had the quarter that finished the contest with an 18-4 run to lead 32-14 at halftime.

Cumberland came back in the third quarter with a 15-8 run behind Reed Miller, Cameron Roedl and Kelby Bierman’s four points each and a three-pointer by Chase Stewart.

The Pirates had a 12-11 final quarter edge but it wasn’t enough.

Roedl finished as the lone player in double figures for the Pirates with 15 on six field goals, one a three-pointer, and two of five at the line.

Okaw Valley was led by W. Hildebrandt with 13 and R. Montgomery with 12.

Greenville won the championship with a 50-38 victory over Shelbyville.

Fifth place went to Vandalia over Pana, 65-44. Nokomis edged Flora 43-41 for seventh place. Macon Meridian downed Mulberry Grove 69-63 for ninth place.
