COWDEN -- Cowden-Herrick High School went two games and beat North Clay (Louisville) in volleyball competition Monday.

The Hornets won 27-25, 25-21. In junior varsity play, Cowden-Herrick also nabbed the match. North Clay won the opener 25-21 but C-H came back with 25-10, 25-20 scores for the match.

 

At Dieterich

Beecher City came calling and handed the homestanding Dieterich squad a loss in varsity play, 25-19, 25-22.

Caitlin Sloan led in aces with three. Kirby Herrmann had six kills. Kacie Hilt had 14 assists while Leah Kelly led in blocks with three. Angel Haslett had eight digs.

Dieterich was led by Jodi Zacha and Faith Boerngen with six points each. Boerngen led in assists with 11. Mickayla Winters had four digs. Madison Boerngen had seven kills. The Maroons drop to 1-4.

Beecher City improves to 4-5 on the season.

In the junior varsity match, Dieterich won 25-15, 25-12. Dieterich won a freshman/sophomore match 25-18, 25-23.

At Paris

Newton improved its record to 9-4 on the season with a 25-9, 25-18 win over Paris Monday evening.

T. Johnson led in kills with eight while G. Zerrusen and Johnson had three aces each. Zerrusen and B. Koebele led in assists with nine each. E. Johnson had nine digs.

The Eagles also won the junior varsity contest 25-19, 25-15 and a freshman match 25-14, 25-8.

At Paris

At Farina

Altamont defeated South Central 25-20, 25-18 to improve to 2-0 in the National Trail Conference, 10-2 overall.

Alwardt had five kills while L. Ohnesorge led in aces with two. Wendilng had nine assists. Ledbetter had four digs and White two stuff blocks.

South Central won the junior varsity match and the preliminary match.
