Wheaton St. Francis Wins Crossroads Volleyball Classic

The BSN Crossroads Volleyball Classic came to a close Saturday with champions in Gold, Silver and Bronze flight play at Effingham High School.

Wheaton St. Francis won the Gold Flight. In preliminary play Saturday, Lexington Henry Clay defeated St. Louis Ursuline 15-25, 25-14, 25-21; Wheaton St. Francis defeated Belleville Althoff 25-15, 25-16, Glenbard West defeated Champaign Centennial 28-26, 23-25, 25-23; Indianapolis Chatard defeated McCracken County 22-25, 25-23, 25-18; St. Louis Ursline defeated Belleville Althoff 18-25, 25-23, 25-16; Champaign Centenial defeated McCracken County 25-19, 25-23; Wheaton St. Francis defeated Lexington Henry Clay 25-14, 25-15 and Indianapolis Chatard defeated Glenwood West 25-23, 25-21.

In the seventh place match, McCracken County defeated Belleville Althoff 25-16, 25-25. Fifth place went to Champaign Centennial over St. Louis Ursuline 25-23, 25-21. Third place went to Glenbard West over Lexington Henry Clay 21-25, 25-8, 25-20. The championship went to Wheaton St. Francis over Indianapolis Chatard 25-22, 26-24.

In Silver Flight preliminary play Saturday, North Oldham defeated Hermann 25-20, 25-23; Bloomington defeated Illiana Christian 25-16, 25-21; Normal University defeated Breese Cnetral 25-27, 25-20, 15-8; Mattoon defeated Edwardsville 26-24, 25-23; Hermann defeated Illiana Christian 25-23, 25-18; Breese Central defeated Edwardsville 25-21, 25-18; Bloomington defeated North Oldham 25-19, 25-19 and Mattoon defeated Edwardsville 26-24, 25-23.

In the seventh-place match, Edwardsville won over Illiana Christian 25-17, 25-20. Fifth place went to Breese Central over Hermann 25-23, 25-20. North Oldham won third place over Normal University 29-27, 25-20. First place went to Bloomington over Mattoon 25-18, 20-25, 15-9.

In Bronze Flight preliminaries Saturday, Walter Payton defeated Cumberland 21-25, 25-5, 15-11; Whitney Young defeated Effingham 25-20, 25-17; Naperville Central defeated Tri-County 25-16, 25-12; Owensboro Catholic defeated Stewardson-Strasburg 25-22, 27-25; Effingham defeated Cumberland 25-12, 25-13; Stewardson-Strasburg defeated Tri-County 25-22, 25-21; Whitney Young defeated Walter Payton 25-22, 18-25, 15-8 and Naperville Central defeated Owensboro Catholic 25-9, 13-25, 15-11.

In the seventh place contest, Tri-County won over Cumberland 27-25, 25-13. Fifth place went to Effingham over Stewardson-Strasburg 25-22, 15-25, 15-12. Walter Payton claimed third place over Owensboro Catholic 25-19, 25-23. Whitney Young won the championship over Naperville Central, 25-22, 25-23.
