Junior High Volleyball -- Feb. 10 Results

NEWTON -- Effingham and Jasper County split victories in junior high school volleyball competition Monday evening.

The Mustangs were winners in the seventh-grade matchup. They lost the opener 27-25 but came back with 25-20, 25-16 scores for the victory.

Savannah Fear led in kills with five. Miley Wilson and Madalyn Hoffman had seven aces each. Kenley Moore led in assists with nine. Wilson had two blocks. Cloie Bailey led in digs with six.

In eighth-grade action, Jasper County was a 26-24, 25-18 winner.

Effingham was led by Aubrey Huston with six kills, Taylor Davis with three aces, Alayna Wade with 11 assists and April Martin and Huston with four digs each.

At Newton

At St. Anthony

Effingham St. Anthony picked up two victories over Windsor Monday evening.

The Bullpups won the seventh-grade match 25-15, 25-6.

Morgan Lustig led in kills with three, Amaya Griffith had six assists, Sylvia Semple led in aces with 13 and had one dig while Janis Amelia also had one dig.

The Bullpups also claimed the eighth-grade match win, 25-21, 21-25, 25-14.

Nora Niebrugge led in assists with five, Malllory Litz had three kills, Hanna Frisbie led in digs with three, Carli Budde had six aces and Rachel Emmerich and Cheyenne Barker had two blocks each.

At St. Anthony

At Altamont

Altamont was a winner in seventh-grade play while Effingham Sacred Heart claimed the eighth-grade match Monday evening.

Altamont won 25-16, 25-23 and improved to 7-8 on the season. Teegan Burrus had seven aces and eight assists for the winners. Mia Totten led in kills with six. Addi Neu had three blocks and one dig while Payton Ort had one dig.

In eighth-grade play, the Shamrocks were winners. Sacred Heart took the opener 25-7 but Altamont came back with a 25-14 win. Sacred Heart then won the match, 25-12.

Altamont was led by Adelita Ruffner with four aces, Summer Martin had six kills, Kara Bauer led in assists with eight. Sophia Hendrockson had one block and Ruffner and Bauer led in digs with three each.

At Altamont

Seventh-Grade Match

At Cowden

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and Dieterich each picked up a victory in Monday evening play.

Dieterich was the winner in the seventh-grade contest. CHBC won the opening set 25-12 but Dieterich came back for the match win, 25-15, 25-22.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City was led by Anna Hart with five kills and seven digs, Hadley Pope with nine aces and 12 points and Kaycie Thatcher with five assists.

In eighth-grade play, Dieterich won 27-25, 22-25, 25-21.

CHBC was led by Natalie Tucker with five kills, seven aces and 12 assists. Raylee Martin had five kills and led in digs with 11 and Harper Lilly led in points with 14.

At Cowden

At Clay City

North Clay (Lousiville) was a winner over Clay City in both matches Monday evening.

North Clay won the seventh-grade contest, 25-4, 25-8.

In the eighth-grade match, North Clay was a 25-13, 25-16 winner to improve to 10-3.

North Clay is back in action today at 3:45 p.m. against Sigel St. Michael.
