Class 8-1A Effingham Sacred Heart Regional

Effingham Sacred Heart claimed the championship of its own regional Thursday evening.

The Shamrocks defeated West Salem. West Salem won the opener 25-10 but Sacred Heart came back with 25-23, 25-16 victories to advance to the Oakland Lake Crest Sectional Monday at 6 p.m. against host Oakland Lake Crest (16-2).

Sacred Heart sports a 19-5 record.

Class 8-4A Charleston Regional

Effingham saw its season come to an end in the Charleston Regional Thursday evening.

The Mustangs fell in the opening match to Mattoon, 25-15, 25-8. In the second match, Danville North Ridge defeated Charleston, 25-21, 26-24.

Mattoon now faces Danville North Ridge tonight at 5 for the regional championship.

Class 8-2A Edwards County (Albion) Regional

Effingham St. Anthony fell in the Edwards County Regional Thursday.

Host Edwards County defeated the Bullpups 25-22, 25-12 to win the regional championship. Edwards County advances to the St. Anthony Sectional Monday evening at 6 p.m. against Arcola, a 19-25, 25-9, 25-22 winner over Nokomis to win the Findlay Okaw Valley Regional.

Class 8-3A Teutopolis Regional

Cumberland claimed the regional championship win over Vandalia 26-24, 25-18 Thursday evening at Teutopolis.

Cumberland improves to 14-8 on the season and will now meet Robinson Nuttall (17-3) at 6 p.m. Monday in the Cumberland Sectional.
