ALTAMONT -- It took three games before Altamont defeated Cowden-Herrick in volleyball play Tuesday evening.

Cowden-Herrick won the opener 25-18 but Altamont came back with 25-10, 25-18 victories to pull out the match.

White led in kills with 12, aces with eight and stuff blocks with one. M. Ohnesoge had 11 assists. Kopplin had six digs and one stuff block. Altamont improves to 1-3 in the National Trail Conference, 2-9 overall.

Altamont also won the junior varsity match 25-21, 22-25, 25-23. Altamont won in two sets in the preliminary match. The Indians are back in action Thursday hosting Brownstown.

Browntown handed Beecher City a loss in two games, 25-15, 25-14. Beecher City drops to 0-18.

Taylor Clark led the Eagles in digs with 13. Taylor Danekas and Kirby Herrmann had two kills each. Herrmann added one block. Kacie Hilt had six assists. Danekas, Herrmann and Caitlin Sloan had one ace each.

At Brownstown

At Strasburg

Stewardson-Strasburg took a hard-fought National Trail Conference victory over Neoga.

Neoga won the opener 25-22 but Stew-Stras came back to take the next game 25-13. Then it was a battle all way way before the Comets pulled out a 26-24 victory to improve to 6-1 in the conference, 8-5 overall.

"We saw a glimpse of our team in game two and parts of game three," said Stew-Stras Coach Ronda Schlechte. "We haven't been ourselves the last several games. Neoga put up a good block tonight that shut down our middles but we finally started using their weaknesses to run our offense and was able to pull off some major kills."

In the junior varsity match, Neoga won 25-21, 25-13. Stew-Stras drops to 1-7.

Stew-Stras then won a freshman/sophomore contest 25-22, 16-25, 10-6 to improve to 2-1. Stew-Stras is home to Windsor Thursday in Pink Night.

Windsor came calling and downed Dieterich in two games, 25-14, 25-1. Dieterich drops to 5-8 on the season.

Candace Niemerg and Madison Boerngen led Dieterich in points with three each. Shelby Wendling had four digs and three assists. Niemerg added two blocks.

In junior varsity play, Windsor won 25-15, 25-20. Dieterich drops to 2-6.
