Bulldogs Defeat Neoga; Volleyball Roundup

Effingham St. Anthony handed Neoga a loss in high school volleyball action Tuesday evening.

The Bulldogs won 25-16, 25-15. Haylee Mathis led the squad in kills with seven, digs with nine and assists with seven. Megan Nuxoll, Megan Woltman and Lauren Wendt had two aces each. Wendt added two blocks.

In junior varsity play, St. Anthony was a winner 26-24, 15-25, 25-18.

At Sullivan

Teutopolis traveled to Sullivan and picked up a loss and a victory. The Wooden Shoes fell in varsity action 25-14, 23-25, 25-18.

Leading the Shoes were Julie Wente in aces with four, Natalie Summers in kills with nine and Katelynn Ruholl in assists with 21.

T-town won the junior varsity match 25-23, 25-22. The two squads split freshman/sophomore games. Sullivan won 25-23 while T-town won 25-15.

Stewardson-Strasburg improved to 3-0 overall, 2-0 in the National Trail Conference with a victory over Beecher City.

Stew-Stras won 25-16, 25-4. Elizabeth Gratz had seven aces while Mariah Tabbert had six kills. Kelsie Walden led in assists with 12 and digs with four.

"Team work is still a major success," said Stew-Stras Coach Ronda Schlechte. "Elizabeth Gratz led with 14 consecutive service points while Brittani Tabbert added eight consecutive service points."

Windsor defeated Brownstown in two games, 25-19, 25-13 to improve to 5-0 on the season.

Jennifer Bullock had 11 kills for the winners. Lindsay Floyd and Bullock had three aces each.

Brownstown was led by Bethany Oberlink and Chelsey Lange in kills with three each. The Bombers drop to 1-3 overall.

At Cowden

St. Elmo lost the opening game 25-19 but came back with 25-13, 25-16 wins to down Cowden-Herrick.

Cowden-Herrick drops to 2-1 on the season.
