CLASS 7-1A EFFINGHAM SACRED HEART REGIONAL

Effingham Sacred Heart and Stewardson-Strasburg advanced to the championship match after victories Saturday.

Sigel St. Michael opened with a 25-19, 25-7 win over Windsor. Stewardson-Strasburg defeated Martinsville 25-21, 25-11. Sacred Heart then downed St. Michael 25-15, 26-24.

Sacred Heart will now meet Stewardson-Strasburg tonight for the championship at 6. The winner advances to the Stewardson-Strasburg Sectional Monday, March 10 at 6 p.m.

At Effingham

CLASS 1A WEST SALEM REGIONAL

Grayville and West Salem will be facing each other for the championship of this regional.

Grayville defeated Dieterich 25-11, 25-15 in the opening match. West Salem then downed Newton St. Thomas 25-19, 25-22.

Grayville and West Salem meet for the championship Tuesday at 6 p.m. The winner advances to the Stewardson-Strasburg Sectional Monday, March 10 at 6 p.m.

 

CLASS 2A EDWARDS COUNTY REGIONAL

Altamont will be playing for the regional championship after Saturday competition.

In the opeing match, Oblong won over Hutsonville 21-25, 25-23, 25-18. Effingham St. Anthony then downed St. Elmo/Brownstown 25-12, 25-21.

Edwards County defeated Oblong 25-14, 25-14. Altamont beat St. Anthony 25-13, 25-17.

Altamont and Edwards County meet Thursday for the regional title. The winner advances to the St. Elmo/Brownstown Sectional Monday, March 10 at 6 p.m.

At Albion

St. Anthony -- L. Day, 4 aces; Kabbes, 1 dig, 8 kills, 1 block, 3 aces; Kinkelaar, 2 kills, 4 aces; Moore, 12 assists, 3 kills, 3 aces; Richards, 3 digs, 4 kills, 4 aces; Zeller, 1 ace; Jones, 1 dig, 1 ace

 

CLASS 2A PARIS CRESTWOOD REGIONAL

Five matches were contested Saturday in this regional. In the opening contest, Neoga beat Arcola 25-22, 14-25, 25-15. Arthur then downed Paris Crestwood 25-12, 25-13. Cowden-Herrick won over Findlay Okaw Valley 25-17, 23-25, 25-21.

Oakland Lake Crest handed Neoga a loss 25-4, 25-13. Arthur ended Cowden-Herrick's season 25-13, 25-3.

Oakland Lake Crest faces  Arthur at 6 p.m. today for the regional championship.

 

CLASS 7-3A ROBINSON NUTTALL REGIONAL

Casey-Westfield picked up an opening round victory over Lawrenceville Parkview 21-25, 25-16, 25-12.

In the second match, Cumberland was a 25-9, 25-19 winner over Marshall.

Casey-Westfield will face Robinson Nuttall Tuesday at 6 p.m. followed by Jasper County taking on Cumberland at 7. The winners advance to the championship match Thursday at 6 p.m.

 

CLASS 4A CHARLESTON REGIONAL

The Effingham match vs. the winner of the Urbana vs. Tolono Unity match has been postponed tonight.

The match will now take place at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday with the championship match to follow. The other two matches tonight featuring Urbana against Tolono Unity at 4:30 and the Charleston vs. Mattoon match at 5:30 will be played.
