Area Girls Headed To State Track Meets Today, Friday

Area girls track athletes are ready to go as the Class 1A State Track Meet begins today at Eastern Illinois University's O'Brien Stadium with semifinals while the Class 2A and 3A semifinals are scheduled for Friday.

State finals for all three classes will be held Saturday.

Athletes from the area competing today will be:

Liv Hoene -- 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles

Mary Scheidemantel -- high jump

Allison Geen and Anna Greene -- pole vault

Kaitlyn Vahling -- 100, 200, 400 (Vahling has the top time in the 100)

Jada Buehnerkemper -- high jump

Ella Neihls and Kaela Neihls -- triple jump

400 Relay -- Adi Davidson, Halle Bushue, Ella Neihls, Kaitlyn Vahling

Brooke Schafer -- shot

Gracie Smithenry -- high jump

Karasyn Martin and Camryn Martin -- pole vault
