St. Anthony, Neoga Tie For NTC Boys Title; Neoga Wins Girls Crown

Effingham St. Anthony and Neoga tied for the championship of the National Trail Conference Boys Track Meet Tuesday at Altamont.

The Bulldogs and Neoga tallied 142 points each followed by Altamont 108, Stewardson-Strasburg 57, Cowden-Herrick 43, Windsor 38 and St. Elmo 19.

St. Anthony's Andrew Gardewine captured the 800 run with a time of 2:03.9 minutes. Patrick  Martelli took the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 10 inches. Nick Wortman was a winner in the pole vault at 11 feet.

Neoga claimed eight first-place finishes including three relay events. Neoga's Derek Williamson was a winner in three events. Williamson won the 100 in 11.10 seconds, the 200 in 23.05 and the 400 in 49.61. Corey Kersey won the triple jump with a leap of 43 feet, 4 1/2 inches and the long jump at 20-9 3/4.

The Indians captured the 400 relay in 44.55 seconds, the 800 in 1:36.53 and the 3200 in 9:04.29.

Altamont's Andrew Sharp nabbed two victories.. Sharp won the 1600 in 4:38.88 and the 3200 in 10:04.4. Easton Hanna won the 110 hurdles in 15.54. Altamont's 1600 relay team won in 3:41.9.

Stewardson-Strasburg took championships in three events. Jason Fry was a winner in two, taking the shot with a throw of 46 feet, 8 inches and the discus at 139-5. Jason Becker won the 300 hurdles in 42.77.

In the girls meet, Neoga was the winner with 156 1/2 points followed by St. Anthony 109 1/2, Windsor 102, Altamont 86, St. Elmo 61, Cowden-Herrick 22 and Stewardson-Strasburg 7.

The Indians picked up seven championships, three of those in relay events. Individually, Neoga's Brittany Deters won the 300 hurdles in 50.38 seconds. Maddie Butler claimed the 1600 in 6:11.23 minutes. Olivia Ott was a winner in the long jump at 15 feet, 10 1/2 inches. Erin Walk won the high jump at 5-10.

Neoga won the 400 relay in 51.99 seconds, the 800 relay in 1:53.34 and the 3200 relay in 10:58.41.

The Bulldogs had three first-place finishes. Sarah Wortman claimed the pole vault at 10 feet. Carson Fonner won the 3200 in 13:29.87 and the 1600 relay team won in 4:24.0.

Windsor captured four championships. Jenny Bullock was a three-time winner taking the 100 in 12.54, the 200 in 26.89 and the triple jump at 33-9. Olivia Williamson won the shot with a throw of 39-7 1/2

Altamont was a two-time winner. Rachel Hanna won the 100 hurdles in 19.76 and Desiree Nelson won the 800 in 2:38.45.

St. Elmo also picked up a couple of victories. Molly Hll won the discus with a throw of 104-1 while teammate Emily Bone claimed the 400 in 1:03.71.
