Effingham Girls Win Triangular Meet

SALEM -- Effingham High School picked up a girls triangular track victory over Salem and Mount Vernon Monday. The Hearts tallied 75 points followed by Mount Vernon 51 and Salem 30.

EHS picked up five individual first place finishes and captured three of the four relay events. The Hearts won the 400 relay in 55.07 seconds, the 800 relay in 1:58.45 minutes and the 3200 in 10:58.

Individually, Keitel claimed the high jump with a leap of 4 feet, 8 inches. Rivera won the 100 in 14.01 seconds. S. Phillips won the 800 in 2:40 minutes. The 300 hurdles went to J. Steppe in 51.18. Bingham claimed the 1600 in 5:57.

In the high jump, the Hearts swept all three spots with Keitel winning, J. Steppe taking second and C. Niebrugge third. Keitel also added a second in the 3200. Steppe took another second in the 100 hurdles and Rivera finished second in the long jump.
