Teutopolis, Newton, Neoga Compete at Prep Top Times Indoor Classic

Teutopolis, Neoga and Newton athletes competed in the Illinois Boys & Girls Prep Top Times Indoor Track & Field Classic in Class A recently.

In the girls meet, Erie claimed the team championship with 37.5 points followed in the top five by Decatur St. Teresa 37, Tremont 32, Red Bud 26 and Moweaqua Central A&M 26. Neoga captured 12th place while Newton was tied for 31st and T-town finished tied for 41st.

Finishing for Neoga were Courtney Croy second in the long jump with a leap of 17 feet, 4 1/2 inches. Taylor Rich finished fifth in the triple jump at 34-4. The Neoga 800 relay team took fifth in 1:52.20 minutes. Erin Walk finished 15th in the high jump at 4 feet, 10 inches.

Finishing for Teutopolis were Megan Weichman seventh in the 400 in 1:00.97 minutes and Anna Hartke took seventh in the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 2 inches.

Finishing for Newton were McKendra Barthelme fifth in the 60 meter hurdles in 9.69 seconds and seventh in the long jump at 16 feet, 3 1/2 inches. Tara Wirth was 10th in the shot with a throw of 34-6 1/2 and Rachel Mammoser was 16th in the high jump at 4-10.

In the boys meet, Carlinville won the team championship with a score of 30 points followed in the top five by Champaign St. Thomas More 28, Sterling Newman Central Catholic 26, Erie 24 and Chicago Hales Franciscan 24. Neoga finished 12th with 17 points and Teutopolis was tied for 24th with 10.

T-town's Kyle Blievernicht captured first place in the 400 with a time of 52.10 seconds. Justin Hunt was 12th in the long jump with a distance of 19 feet, 6 3/4 inches. The 1600 relay team finished 12th in 3:42.55 minutes.

Neoga's Corey Kersey won the triple jump with a leap of 43 feet, 2 inches and took eighth in the long jump with a distance of 20-3 3/4. Derek Williamson finished third in the 200 with a time of 23.02 seconds.

Newton's Blake Ebeling was 12th in the high jump at 5 feet, 10 inches. The 1600 relay team finished ninth in 3:39.61.
