Good Finishes at State for Area Track and Field Athletes Saturday

Area athletes posted some good finishes in the finals of the Boys State Track and Field Meet Saturday at Eastern Illinois University.

Altamont finished in a tie for 12th in the 1A meet, thanks to senior Nate Brown and sophomore Tim Moore.

Brown finished fourth in the shot put with a toss of 52 feet, 10 inches. He finished sixth in the discus throw with a heave of 154 feet, five inches.

Moore finished fourth in the pole vault, going 14 feet, three inches.

Dylan Webster of Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City finished 11th in the pole vault, going 13 feet.

In the 2A meet, Effingham senior Alec Morrissey finished tied for seventh in the pole vault, going 14 feet.

Effingham senior Terrence Hill finished tied for ninth in the high jump, going six feet, one inch.
