Altamont, Neoga Claim NTC Track Championships

Altamont claimed the boys title while Neoga won the girls crown at the National Trail Conference Track Meets Tuesday evening at Altamont's all-weather track.

Altamont won the boys meet with 156 points followed by Neoga 125, Effingham St. Anthony 107, Stewardson-Strasburg 83, Brownstown/St. Elmo 26, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 20 and Windsor 16.

The Indians captured four first-place finishes on its way to the title. Andrew Sharp captured three wins. He claimed the 400 in 50.43 seconds and the 3200 run in 11:05.02 minutes. He also won the 300 hurdles with atime of 42.69 seconds. Matthew Kuhns won the 200 in 23.88 seconds. The 3200 relay team won in 9:09.87 seconds.

Neoga was a winner in five events. Corey Kersey claimed two wins, taking the long jump at 21 feet, 2 inches and the triple jump at 46-3. The Indians' 400 relay team won in 3:38.23 minutes while the 400 team won in 46.04 seconds. Jordan Probst won the 110 hurdles in 16.24 seconds.

Stewardson-Strasburg's Jason Fry captured two victories. He won the shot with a throw of 50 feet, 6 1/2 inches and the discus at 157 feet. Paul Blythe won the 100 in 12.00 seconds. The Comets' 800 relay team won in 1:41.39 minutes.

St. Anthony's Andrew Gardewine was a triple winner. He won the high jump at 5 feet, 8 inches. He then claimed two races, the 800 in 1:58.95 minutes and the 1600 in 5:01.27.

In the girls meet, Neoga won with 200 points followed by St. Anthony 110, Altamont 82 1/2, Windsor 70, Brownstown/St. Elmo 54 1/2, Stewardson-Strasburg 11 and Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 4.

The Indians won on the strength of eight first place finishes. Neoga won the 400 relay in 51.76 seconds, the 800 relay in 1:49.43 and the 3200 relay in 11:20.89.

Morgan Partlow won the 800 in 2:39.99 minutes. Brittany Deters claimed the 300 hurdles in 50.94 seconds. Courtney Croy captured the long jump at 17 feet, 6 inches while Taylor Rich won the triple jump at 33-8. Ellie Buening was a winner in the discus with a throw of 100-5 1/2.

St. Anthony's Anna Sophia Keller was a double event winner. Keller captured the 1600 in 5:04.40 minutes and the 3200 in 10:38.20. Kristin Slaughter was a winner in the pole vault at 10 feet. The Bulldogs also won the 1600 relay in 4:11.95.

Altamont's Leah Goldstein was a double event winner. Goldstein won the 100 in 13.32 seconds and the 200 in 26.70.

Brownstown/St. Elmo's Emily Bone was a winner in the 400 with a time of 1:01.74.

Windsor's Katie Hostetter won the high jump at 5 feet.
