Cumberland Wins Own Track Invitationals

TOLEDO -- Cumberland High School captured both its own boys and girls track invitationals Tuesday evening.

The Pirates won the boys meet with 76 points followed by Teutopolis 68, Neoga 66, LSA 60, Vandalia 49, Palestine-Hutsonville 21, Stewardson-Strasburg 14 and Windsor 0.

Cumberland had three individual winners and claimed two relay titles. The Pirates won the 1600 relay in 3:45.75 minutes and the 3200 relay in 9:20.21. Sutherland was a winner twice, taking the 400 in 51.9 seconds and the 1600 in 5:12.27 minutes.

Neoga claimed three first place finishes. Walk won the 3200 in 12:39.24 minutes while Probst captured the 300 hurdles in 44.84. Neoga's 800 relay team won in 3:45.75.

In the girls meet, Cumberland won with 95 points followed by Neoga 89, Teutopolis 83, Vandalia 70, Windsor 15, Palestine-Hutsonville 6, LSA 0 and Stewardson-Strasburg 0.

The Pirates had only two wins in the team victory. Hutchinson claimed the 1600 in 5:59.59 while the 3200 relay team won in 11:18.6.

Neoga's Croy captured the 200 in 27.9 while Deters won the 100 hurdles in 17.02.

T-town had four winners. Weichman won the 3200 in 13:42.93 while Westendorf claimed the 300 hurdles in 51.46. The Wooden Shoes' 800 relay team won in 1:17.5 while the 3200 relay team won in 11:18.66.
