Wooden Shoes Win Flora Boys Track Invitational

FLORA -- Teutopolis High School captured the championship of the Flora Boys Track Invitational Thursday with 124 points followed by Olney 91, Newton 91, Fairfield 88, Cumberland 58, Flora 47 and Mount Carmel 46.

"My athletes ran great," said T-town Coach Connie Deters. "We are just inches and tenths of seconds from school records in about three events. We loved the weather. Great performances from everyone. The team is very strong all around."

Justin Hunt won the long jump with a leap of 20 feet, 11 inches for the Shoes. Cody Heuerman captured the triple jump at 40-7 3/4.

Drees was a double event winner for the Shoes. Drees won the 110 hurdles in 16.41 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 40.75. The T-town 800 relay team won in 1:36.7 minutes.

Newton captured two victories, the 400 relay in 45.43 seconds and the 1600 relay in 3:38.7 minutes. Cumberland also was a double event winner, taking the 3200 relay in 8:44.7 and Volk winning the pole vault at 13 feet. Sutherland was a winner in the 400.
