(Wimbledon, England) -- Rafael Nadal is out of Wimbledon. The reigning French Open and 12-time Grand Slam champion was upset in his first-round match Mondy by 135th-ranked Steve Darcis of Belgium. Nadal says he's not about to blame his knee problems for this loss.

Nadal lost 7-6, 7-6, 6-4. He's the first defending French Open champion to lose in the first round of Wimbledon since Gustavo Kuerten in 1997. Nadal is now 34-1 all-time in the first round of a major.
