Bulldogs Trounce Charleston, EHS Drops Match In Tennis

The Bulldogs sailed through the match with five 6-0, 6-0 counts in singles and doubles play.
In singles, Liv Hoene, Laura Schmidt and Madelyn Brown blanked their opponents at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 6.
In the other singles action, Emily Kowalke was a 6-2, 6-0 winner while Ellie Link won 6-1, 6-1 and Mia Kinkelaar downed her opponent 6-0, 6-1.
In doubles play, Kowalke and Hoene combined while Laura Schmidt and Brown were partners to win, 6-0, 6-0. In the other doubles match, Link and Kinkelaar downed their opponents, 6-0, 6-2.
Coach Darlene Esker's crew will be back in action Tuesday playing host to Mattoon at 4 p.m. in the final regular season match. The Bulldogs will be competing in its own sectional Friday, Oct. 14 and Saturday, Oct. 15.

Effingham High School fell to Robinson by a 7-2 count Thursday.
The Hearts two points came at No. 3 singles as Izzy Volpi was a 6-2, 6-4 winner and at No. 2 doubles as Madison Mapes and Gracie Kroenlein were 6-1, 6-3 winners.
