Teutopolis Edges St. Anthony, 5-4 in Tennis Action

Teutopolis High School edged Effingham St. Anthony 5-4 in tennis action Tuesday evening.
"This was a great match for all the kids," said Teutopolis Coach Kaye Kimpling. "It's a good way to go into sectional play."
The Bulldogs nabbed the top two spots in singles play as Cole Buehnerkemper and Frank Jansen were winners. But the Wooden Shoes then swept the next four singles spots as Andy Mersman, Mitch Meinhart, Karson Pruemer and Nick Pals won.
In doubles play, St. Anthony picked up the first two victories. Buehnerkemper and Jay Niebrugge won 6-2, 6-2 while Rentfrow and Frank Jansen won 6-3, 6-1. T-town's Pruemer and Jay Funneman claimed the No. 3 spot, 6-3, 6-2.
T-town improves to 8-3-1 on the season while St. Anthony drops to 14-3. Both will be back in action Friday in the Casey-Westfield Sectional.

At Shelbyville
Effingham zipped through wins to down Shelbyville 8-1 and remain unbeaten at 12-0 on the season.
The Hearts claimed No. 2 through No. 6 in singles play as Isaac Foreman, Jared Minor, Nick Pellman, Caleb Gadberry and Jeff Keitel were winners.
In doubles action, the Hearts swept. Foreman-Jason Wohltman won 6-2, 6-2 while Minor-Parth Maheshware won 6-1, 6-0 and Kody Avery-Cody Sennett won 6-3, 6-3.
EHS will return to action Friday in the Casey-Westfield Sectional.
