St. Anthony, EHS Nab Tennis Wins, T-town Falls

URBANA -- Effingham St. Anthony traveled to Urbana and captured a 9-0 tennis victory Monday.

Manaye Mossman and Aiden Tegeler tallied singles victories and won as a doubles team. Mossman went 6-1, 6-1 in singles while Tegeler blanked his opponent, 6-0, 6-0. The pair then united for a 7-5, 6-2 win in doubles play.

Evan Mossman and Adam Rudibaugh also swept through singles play and combined to win at the No. 2 doubles spot. E. Mossman took the No. 2 singles spot, 6-3, 7-6 (4) while Rudibaugh won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4. The pair then went 6-2, 6-1 in doubles.

Henry Kemme and Isaac McDonald combined to claim the No. 3 doubles victory, 6-3, 6-1. Kemme won in singles at No. 5, 6-1, 6-0 while McDonald tallied 6-3, 6-1 set wins at No. 6.

In the junior varsity match, St. Anthony was a 10-0 winner.

At Urbana

No. 2 -- Evan Mossman (SA) defeated Parker McClain (U), 6-3, 7-6 (4)

No. 3 -- Aidan Tegeler (SA) defeated Elijah Wacker (U), 6-0, 6-0

No. 4 -- Adam Rudibaugh (SA) defeated Zach Menard (U), 6-3, 6-1

No. 5 -- Henry Kemme (SA) defeated Tuong Dang (U), 6-1, 6-0

No. 6 -- Isaac McDonald (SA) defeated Ian Peters (U), 6-3, 6-1

Doubles

No. 1 -- M. Mossman-Tegeler (SA) defeated Jack Solava-Patel (U), 7-5, 6-2

No. 2 -- E. Mossman-Rudibaugh (SA) defeated McClain-Walker (U), 6-2, 6-1

No. 3 -- Kemme-McDonald (SA) defeated Menard-Joe Solava (U), 6-3, 6-1

 

At Robinson

Effingham High School edged host Robinson, 5-4.

The Hearts picked up three of the six singles wins. Thad Dillow took the No. 1 spot by a 6-0, 6-1 count. Blayne Pals was a winner 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2. The third singles victory came at No. 5 as Evan Pryor was a 6-3, 6-0 winner.

In doubles play, Dillow and Pals combined to take the top spot, 6-1, 6-1. Pryor and Ross Schaefer captured the No. 3 doubles, 6-3, 6-1.

No. 6 -- Duke Thompson (R) defeated Ross Schaefer (E), 2-6, 6-3, 10-5

No. 1 -- Dillow-Pals (E) defeated Rosborough-Elder (R), 6-1, 6-1

No. 2 -- Hatfield-Schmidt (R) defeated Nohren-Siner (E), 6-4, 1-6, 10-7

No. 3 -- Pryor-Schaefer (E) defeated Thompson-Gower (R), 6-3, 6-1

 

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis ran into a tough Mount Zion squad and fell 9-0 Monday.

There were four close matches in singles play.

The toughest loss came at No. 1 doubles as Kolten Tabbert and Ethan Thoele fell 7-6, 7-5.
