Effingham Hands T-town 6-3 loss, St. Anthony Wins

TEUTOPOLIS -- Effingham High School remained unbeaten on the season by downing Teutopolis 6-3 in tennis action Tuesday evening.
The Hearts and Wooden Shoes split victories in singles play, each winning three. Effingham's Isaac Foreman, Jared Minor and Nick Pellman were winners while T-town's Kyle Brumleve, Andy Mersman and Karson Pruemer claimed victories.
In doubles action, Effingham swept. Parth Maheshwari and Minor combined to win 6-4, 5-7, 6-4. Foreman and Pellman were winners at No. 2, 6-0, 7-5 while Aaron Meyers and Jason Wohltman won 6-4, 1-2 (injury).
"I was really pleased with how well we did," said T-town Coach Kaye Kimpling. "We came close to winning a couple of other matches. The boys fought well."
Effingham is now 8-0 on the season.
In a junior varsity match, Teutopolis claimed a 6-2 win over Effingham.

At St. Anthony
Effingham St. Anthony picked up its 10th victory of the season with a 6-3 win over Highland.
The Bulldogs captured the top four spots as Cole Buehnerkemper won 6-2, 6-0, Frank Jansen won 7-5, 3-6, 6-2, Scott Rentfrow won 7-5, 6-3 and Jay Niebrugge won 6-1, 6-1.
In doubles play, St. Anthony took the top two spots as Buehnerkemper and F. Jansen combined to win 6-0, 6-1 and Rentfrow-J. Niebrugge claimed a 6-1, 6-3 win. The Bulldogs are now 10-2 on the season.
