Teutopolis Wins Girls Tennis Sectional

The Wooden Shoes tallied 24 points followed by Effingham St. Anthony 18, Paris 15, Effingham 14, Casey-Westfield 13, Robinson 12, Charleston 4, Newton 4, Mattoon 4 and Shelbyville 0.

T-town's Macy Probst and Isabelle Hemmen captured first place in doubles competition. The pair blanked Keown-Walls of Shelbyville, 6-0, 6-0; Eden Wendling-Lydia Kull of Effingham, 6-0, 6-1; Eva Richardson-Gwendalyn Eckerty of Casey-Westfield, 6-1, 6-4 and Allison Kowalke-Caroline McDevitt of St. Anthony, 6-2, 6-1.

Kowalke and McDevitt finished second followed by Richardson-Eckerty of Casey-Westfield third and Sarah Staller and Lucy List of Robinson fourth.

In singles play, St. Anthony's Emily Kowalke finished first. Kowalke downed Effingham's Madison Mapes, 6-3, 6-0 then won over T-town's Carley Habing, 6-3, 6-0, Paris' Kendall Matthews, 6-2, 6-4 and T-town's Grace Hoene, 6-4, 6-2.

Hoene finished second while Mattthews of Paris was third and Effingham's Riley Arend took fourth.
