Less than a week after winning the women's title at tennis' U.S. Open, Naomi Osaka of Japan said Thursday that she won't playing in the upcoming French Open because of an injured hamstring.

The third-ranked Osaka joins Number 1 Ash Barty of Australia, who won't be defending her French Open title because of the coronavirus pandemic. The major, which was delayed from earlier this year because of the pandemic, will begin September 27 in Paris.
