EHS, T-town Tennis Players Compete at Metamora

PEORIA --    Effingham and Teutopolis tennis players competed at the Metamora Red and White Invitational Saturday. The meet ended up moving indoors to The Clubs at River City, Peoria.

Once the meet moved indoors, the No. 3 doubles competition was dropped.

Dunlap won the team title with 54 points followed by Metamora 34, Teutopolis 29, Chatham Glenwood 25, Peoria Notre Dame 12, Rockford Guilford 11, Carbondale 8 and Effingham 7.

T-town's No. 1 singles, Kyele Mossman took third place while Joseph Esker captured second place at No. 2 singles.

The Wooden Shoes No. 1 doubles  of Noah Pals and Alex Probst finished fourth while Jacob Pals and Seth Probst took third place in the No. 2 doubles.

"We came in behind a very strong Dunlap team who has the Class 1A No. 1 singles player in the state and Metamora who has one of the strongest doubles teams in 1A in the state," said T-town Coach Kaye Kimpling.

Effingham's Alessandro Boca finished sixth at the No. 1 singles. Nate Linders also took sixth at the No. 2 singles.

In doubles, Matt Linders and Nick Katz finished seventh at No. 1 while Parker Siner and Ben Donsbach took sixth at the No. 2 doubles.

"It was a great tournament," said EHS Coach Lee Althoff. "I cannot wait to see where Effingham tennis goes this year."
