EHS Finishes Third at Apollo Conference Meet

Effingham High School finished third at the Apollo Conference Girls Tennis Meet.

Mattoon won the tournament with 54 points, followed by Mt. Zion with 51 points. Effingham finished with 37 points, followed by Charleston with 28 points and Salem with 19 points. Taylorville did not compete.

Here are the EHS results:

#1 doubles--Chloe Funneman and Lauryn Douthit lost 1-6, 6-3, 5-7, but then won their 3rd place match 6-1, 6-2

#2 doubles--Skyler Schafer and Kyra Bannister lost 0-6, 1-6, but won their 3rd place match by default

#3 doubles--Emily Kelly and Krystine Blackwell lost 0-6, 1-6, and lost their 3rd place match 2-6, 0-6

#1 singles--Chloe Funneman lost 2-6, 3-6, but won her 3rd place match 6-2, 6-0

#2 singles--Lauryn Douthit won 6-1, 6-4, but then lost the first place match 0-6, 1-6

#3 singles--Kyra Bannister lost 4-6, 3-6, but then won the 3rd place match 6-4, 6-0

#4 singles--Skyler Schafer won 6-0, 6-0, but then lost the first place match 3-6, 4-6

#5 singles--Shania Cornell own 3-6, 6-2, 10-6, then lost 4-6, 0-6, but then won 6-3, 6-3 to finish 3rd

#6 singles--Taylor Boyle lost 1-6, 0-6, but then won the 3rd place match 6-3, 6-3
