Mattoon Edges St. A During Senior Night

Effingham St. Anthony High School hosted Mattoon during Senior Night festivities and fell 5-4.

Mattoon claimed the top two singles spots. St. Anthony's Anna Utz won at No. 3, 6-4, 6-2. The Green Wave then took the next two spots. Morgan Gardewine claimed the No. 6 spot, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.

St. Anthony won two of the three doubles matches. Utz and Lexie Niebrugge won at No. 1, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 while Brummer and Walters won 6-3, 6-3.

Seniors honored were Erin Frichtl, D.J. Brummer and Anna Utz.

No. 1 -- Molly Nguyen (M) defeated D.J. Brummer (SA), 6-0, 6-0

No. 2-- Caroline Zahone (M) defeated Jenny Walters (SA), 6-1, 7-5

No. 3 -- Anna Utz (SA) defeated Allie Sieman (M), 6-4, 6-2

No. 4 -- Rachel Kaiser (M) defeated Lexie Niebrugge (SA), 6-2, 6-4

No. 5 -- Kristan Doty (M) defeated Anna Schutzbach (SA), 6-2, 6-4

No. 6 -- Morgan Gardewine (SA) defeated Katie Erwin (M), 3-6, 6-4, 6-4

Doubles

No. 1 -- Utz-Niebrugge (SA) defeated Sieman-Kaiser (M), 4-6, 6-4, 6-3

No. 2 -- Brummer-Walters (SA) defeated Erwin-Doty (M), 6-3, 6-3
