EHS, St. A, T-town Tennis Players Headed to State

Effingham, St. Anthony and Teutopolis athletes will be competing in the State Tennis Tournament, hosted by Arlington Heights, beginning Thursday.

Effingham will have one singles player and a doubles team competing while St.  Anthony has a doubles team and Teutopolis has two singles players and two doubles teams.

In singles play, T-town's Kyele Mossman, a freshman, will take on Chicago Northside's Natan Spear, also a freshman, while Andy Mersman, a senior, faces Kirby Julian, a junior from Chicago Northside.

Effingham's Aaron Conley, a senior, will square off against Bradley-Bourbonnais' Nathan Benoit, a junior.

In doubles action, T-town's Trevor Lee and Jacob Mette, both seniors, will face Max Vittore, a senior, and Josh Cassaro, a junior, from Belvidere North.

T-town's Noah Pals, a junior, and Alex Probst, a sophomore, meets Jared Rhiner and Jack Wells, both seniors, from Elmhurst Timothy Christian.

St. Anthony's Jay Niebrugge and Chris Jones, both seniors, meet Billy Bruce, a sophomore, and Danny Reardon, a senior, from Oak Park Fenwick.

Effingham's Jared Minor and Drake Hill, both seniors, will meet Springfield's Baily Gill and Moshe Latif, both seniors.

Play opens Thursday with first, second and third championship rounds and first, second and third rounds of consolation feed-in. Those advancing will play Friday with the fourth and quarterfinal championship rounds and fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh rounds of consolation feed-in.

Then Saturday will be the semifinal and final championship rounds and quarter, semi and final consolation feed-in rounds.
