Teutopolis Claims Robinson Tennis Doubles

Teutopolis captured the championship of the Robinson Doubles Invitational.
ROBINSON -- Teutopolis tallied 16 points to win the Robinson Doubles Tennis Invitational Saturday.
The Wooden Shoes won followed by Effingham 13, Olney 8, Paris 6 1/2, Mattoon 3 1/2, Robinson 2 and Newton 0.
Noah Pals and Alex Probst captured first place at the No. 2 doubles spot. Joseph Esker and Alex Meinhart were champions in the No. 3 doubles.
Jacob Mette and Trevor Lee finished second in the No. 1 doubles behind Effingham's Drake Hill and Jared Minor who won 6-3, 4-6, tiebreak 10-3.
Effingham's No. 2 doubles of Ashton Hawthorne and Aaron Conley took second place finishing behind T-town's Noah Pals and Alex Probst who defeated a Robinson team 7-5, 6-1 then the Effingham squad 6-1, 6-3.
Joseph Esker and Alex Meinhart took first place for the Wooden Shoes by beating Olney 7-5, 6-4 and Paris 6-2, 6-1. Kaleb Blake and Matt Linders were fourth in the No. 3 doubles.

At Greenville
Effingham St. Anthony downed Greenville 6-3 Friday.
Jay Niebrugge claimed the top spot in singles play 6-0, 6-0 while Ian Harris took No. 3, 7-6, 7-6. Liam Hammer won the No. 4 spot, 7-5, 4-6, 7-6. Nick Grunloh finished out the singles victories winning, 6-2, 6-1.
In doubles play, Niebrugge and Chris Jones won 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1. Harris and Hammer then finished out at the No. 3 doubles, 6-3, 6-3.
The Bulldogs are now 8-2 on the season and will host Flora today.
