Wooden Shoes Third at Alton Doubles Invitational

ALTON -- Teutopolis High School captured third place at the Alton Doubles Tennis Invitational Saturday.
St. Louis Uni High won the team title with 39 points followed by Chatham Glenwood 33, Teutopolis 32, Urbana Uni High 22, Alton 18, Fort Zumwalt South 17, DeSmet 14 and Marquette/Alton JV 5.
Jacob Mette and Trevor Lee finished second in the No. 1 doubles spot. The pair won the first two matches before falling to a team from St. Louis Uni High for second.
Noah Pals and Alex Probst took third place at the No. 2 doubles spot. The pair won their opener before losing in the second round.
Kyele Mossman and Andy Mersman finished second at No. 3 with two wins and a loss.
Joseph Esker and Alex Meinhart also took second at No. 4 by winning twice and losing the final round.
Devin Sabo and Max Ruholl finished fourth at the No. 5 spot.
"The team did great placing third," said T-town Coach Kaye Kimpling. "We just lost taking second place by one point."
