Bulldogs Claim Tennis Victory Over Robinson

ROBINSON -- Effingham St. Anthony picked up its opening season tennis victory by downing Robinson Tuesday, 7-2.
The Bulldogs took four of the six singles matches. Jay Niebrugge won a hard-fought contest at No. 1 over Tim Goodwin 4-6, 6-2 (10-8). Ian Harris took No. 3 over Cameron Ireland, 6-2, 6-4. Andy Saba was the No. 4 winner over David Jenkins 6-4, 6-3. Chandler Martelli took the No. 5 spot, 6-3, 6-2.
In doubles action, Niebrugge and Chris Jones combined to win at the top spot, 6-4, 7-5. Harris and Donovan Hammer claimed a victory 6-3, 6-2 while Martelli and Kyle Hartke took the final spot, 6-7, 6-1 (15-13).
The Bulldogs aren't back in action until Monday hosting Mount Zion.
