Kimplings Receive State Tennis Awards

The husband and wife team of Terry and Kaye Kimpling attended the Illinois High School Tennis Coaches Association Workshop January 29 where they received state awards for coaching.

Kaye, who is the girls and boys head tennis coach in Teutopolis, was awarded the IHSA Regions 5 and 6 Boys Coach of the Year. She also was a finalist for the Illinois Girls Coach of the Year.

Terry, who is the boys and girls assistant coach for Teutopolis High School, received the highest award that an assistant coach can receive as the Illinois High School Girls Assistant Coach of the Year for his work with the Teutopolis girls team. He also was a finalist for the Boys Assistant Coach of the Year.

Some of the accomplishemtns of this year's Teutopolis girls squad included: IHSA sectional champions for the third time in the last four years, champions of three tournaments they attended, won more dual matches than any team in school history, finished the year unbeaten in dual matches and qualified five players for the state meet.
