Shoes Claim Tennis Victory, Sets School Record

Teutopolis High School handed Champaign St. Thomas More a 7-2 loss in girls tennis action Monday evening. The win gives T-town a 13-0 record which sets a school record for most regular season wins in school history. And the Shoes were celebrating Senior Night.

The Wooden Shoes nabbed five of the six singles matches as Kaitlin Deters, Lauren Hemmen, Sidney Brumleve, Audra Breer and Molly Smith were winners.

In doubles play, the Shoes' Brumleve and Breer combined at No. 2 for the win while Hemmen and Smith took No. 3.

The Wooden Shoes handed out season awards with the Most Valuable Player award going to Deters, the Most Improved Player to Brumleve, the Outstanding Freshman and Mental Attitude awards going to Julia Hardiek and Hemmen winning the Outstanding Sophomore and the Sportsmanship awards.

No. 6 -- Molly Smith (TT) defeated Ellen Sobeski (STM), 6-0, 6-0

No. 1 -- Stipes-Waddell (STM) defeated Deters-Schwinke (TT), 7-5, 6-1

No. 2 -- Brumleve-Breer (TT) defeated Tressler-King (STM), 5-7, 6-4, 1-0(5)
