Effingham High School claimed second place at the Chatham Glenwood Tennis Tournament Saturday.

"Coming off three 9-0 wins earlier in the week, the team continued to play solid tennis this weekend, placing second to Glenwood," said EHS Assistant Coach Sara Johnson. "We saw some excellent tennis from both of our singles players and they gained some key experience in losses to two very solid Glenwood players in their respective finals.

"Our No. 1 doubles team, comprised of two seniors, used their experience to rally from a tough first round loss to produce a solid win in the backdraw. Our No. 2 doubles team, freshmen Funneman and Kull, have shown remarkable improvement in a matter of a few short weeks. They played smart, confident tennis to make it to the finals and will only get stronger from here."
