Novak Djokovic captured the Wimbledon title for the second time and denied Roger Federer a piece of history on Sunday at the All England Club. Djokovic dropped the first set in the blockbuster final and failed to serve it out in the fourth, but recovered to earn a  6-7 (7-9),  6-4, 7-6  (7-4), 5-7, 6-4 victory.

He also won the 2011 Wimbledon championship and now has seven career Grand Slam titles. Federer, meanwhile, was denied an unprecedented  eighth Wimbledon crown. The Swiss superstar remains tied with Pete Sampras for the most men's titles in the Open Era on the famed lawns of the London suburb.

Blue Valley North High grad Jack Sock is a Grand Slam champion for a second time. Sock and partner Vasek Pospisil of Canada won the Wimbledon doubles title this weekend in England. Sock also won the mixed doubles title at the U.S. Open in 2011.

Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic is celebrating a second Wimbledon title in four years after defeating Canada's Genie Bouchard on Saturday. Kvitova ousted the rising star in straight sets, 6-3, 6-0 on Centre Court. The sixth-seeded Kvitova needed just 55 minutes to complete the final.

Her only other Grand Slam win came over Maria Sharapova in the 2011 Wimbledon final. The match marked the first Grand Slam final between two players born in the 1990s. The men's final will be contested Sunday morning as Roger Federer looks for a record eighth Wimbledon championship against Novak Djokovic.
