Teutopolis Downs St. Anthony In Tennis

Teutopolis handed Effingham St. Anthony a 5-3 loss in tennis competition that ended early due to the rain Thursday.

The Bulldogs' Frank Jansen won the No. 1 singles match. T-town's Andy Mersman then claimed the No. 2 spot. St. Anthony took the No. 3 spot as Scott Rentfrow won. Then it was all T-town in the bottom three matches as Trevor Lee, Jacob Mette and Mitch Meinhart were winners.

In doubles play, St. Anthony's Jay Niebrugge and Rentfrow combined for the No. 1 spot. T-town then took the No. 2 point as Keith Weber and Jay Funneman were partners. The final match was not completed.

T-town is now 10-2 on the season. The Shoes will travel to Greenville Monday for a makeup contest. St. Anthony will play host to Shelbyville Monday. The Bulldogs sport an 11-2 record.

No. 1 -- Jay Niebrugge-Rentfrow (SA) defeated Mersman-Pals (TT), 6-1, 6-1

No. 2 - Keith Weber-Jay Funneman (TT) defeated Luke Jansen-Benton Hakman (SA), 6-2, 6-1

No. 3 -- Ian Harris-Jones (SA) vs. Lee-Mette (TT) was not completed
