Bulldogs Fall, Indians, Cougars, Shoes, Eagles Claim Softball Wins

Robinson's Eva Herman kept the Bulldogs in check with 15 strikeouts. She did not allow a walk.
The Maroons edged out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning, then tacked on three in the third. St. Anthony dented the plate with a run in the fourth but Robinson came right back in the fifth with two more. St. Anthony scored single runs in the sixth and seventh.
Robinson finished with 11 hits in the contest led by Eva Hemann with a single, home run and two RBI, Eva Brashear with a triple and an RBI and Rhianna Moss and Leighton Boyd with two singles each. Boyd added an RBI
St. Anthony finished with four hits led by Camille Wines with a triple, Julia Schultz with a single and two RBI and Ava Faber with an RBI.

At Altamont
Grace Lemke and the Altamont softball team opened the season with a 2-0 victory over Carlyle Tuesday.
Lemke kept Carlyle under control, throwing a no-hitter and striking out 16.
Meanwhile, Altamont had one lone hit, a single by Lemke.
The Indians scored a run in the fifth and the second run in the sixth. Both teams had an error each.

At Teutopolis
Teutopolis stepped out to a 2-0 opening inning lead and went on to blank Cumberland,9-0 Tuesday.
The Wooden Shoes had 10 hits in the contest while Alyssa Tipton held the Pirates down offensively, giving up two hits, one walk while striking out 10. Jersey Gaddis came in to toss the final inning, allowing one walk.
Meanwhile, T-town had 10 hits led by Chloe Hoene with three singles and two RBI, Kayleigh Zerrusen with two singles and three RBI, Kera Hartke with a single and double, Gaddis with a single and three RBI and Olivia Wermert with a single and an RBI.
T-town stepped out to a 2-0 first inning lead, tacked on a single run in the second, four in the fourth and two in the sixth.
Cumberland had two hits led by Jade Carr and K. McMechan with a single each.

Flora took a 1-0 lead and held that until the third inning. That's when Newton got on a roll and went on for a 15-2 win in five innings Tuesday.
The Eagles broke loose with a six-run third, then added on four in the fourth and five in the fifth.
Newton finished with 14 hits and was aided by six Flora errors.
Camryn Martin had two singles, a triple and drove in a run. Addy O'Dell added two singles and three RBI, Sally Mahaffey a single, triple and an RBi, Avery Mulvey a single double and two RBI and Audrie Reich and Claire Probst two singles each.
Amelia Collins was the winning pitcher. She went four innings, giving up two runs on four hits, four walks and striking out four. Karly Deckard came on to finish the final frame with one strikeout.

South Central ran out to a 6-0 opening inning lead and ended this game in the sixth over Pana, 13-2 Tuesday.
The Cougars finished with 14 hits and were aided by four Pana errors.
Kaitlyn Swift had a single, double and an RBI while Kinley Swift had two singles, a double and an RBI. Maddie Peddicord and Abi Shuler had two singles and two RBI each. Kinlee Thompson had a single and two RBI. Perci Reid and Amelia Montes finished with a single and an RBI each.
Peddicord went the six innings on the mound. She allowed two runs on four hits, four walks while striking out eight.

The two teams were tied at 1-1 in the first inning. Nokomis then moved into a 4-1 lead in the second and had a 10-run third. The game ended in the fifth via the 10-run rule.
